The happenings of Zero Week

If you don't understand what I mean by Zero Week, it's not your fault. It's a Kettering thing. Anywho..

I made it to Yellowstone!
The Roosevelt Arch at the Northwest entrance
Pelicans swimming where the Yellowstone Rivers meets Lake Yellowstone with the Absoroka mountain range behind.

So after my long journey I got to Yellowstone on Tuesday, June 26th. For the next two days I stayed at the Mammoth Campground in the Northeast corner of the park. Here was my campsite.
Five-star accommodations

Not much happened the first day I was there, I pretty much just lounged around and tried to recoup from the arduous drive out. However, Wednesday was amazing. Around 10:30 in the morning I was repacking some clothes and bags when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. And what was it? A coyote.
Pretty freakin' sweet.

After my coyote encounter I went swimming in the Gardiner River. Now the Gardiner is colder than a witch's teet, but in this one spot it merges with the Boiling Creek, which as the name would lead you to believe is damn hot. Where they come together it's like a nice warm bath. It was amazing. Oh and it was exactly half way between the North Pole and the Equator. Snazzy!
Later that afternoon I took a drive through the Lamar Valley in the northeast portion of the park where I saw not one, but two black bears. One right across the road! The first picture was shot out of my cars back window!

Obligatory cute baby buffalo.

Well that's it for now, going to update with pics and stories of my first days at work in a bit. Ciao.
